Who should use a shaving brush?

Well, anyone who has facial hair to shave off.

On a serious note, gents these days are more inclined towards aerosol can with foam or gel that has consistent latherI would tell these gentlemen to experience a true shave the old fashioned way with a shaving brush and shaving cream or soapAnd the ones who appreciate the art of creating lather everyday know the benefits of using a shaving brush.

Now speaking of the whys, the answer is obvious.

While shaving, you need to create a rich lather for a smooth shave and a shaving brush is your real savior. Pairing a safety or straight razor with a shaving brush is a deadly combination. And leads to a super smooth shave…plus admiration from all around you.

Many people ask me this question, “Why use a shaving brush when you can apply lather with your hands?” I tell them in simple words.

“Treat your face well. Buying a shaving brush isn’t expensive, neglect is!”

We generally tend to neglect the fact that using a shaving brush can be a boon for the skin.

How? You ask!

A shaving brush will exfoliate your skin, remove the impurities and increase blood flow to the face.

Isn’t that a great thing for you?

And guys, anyway don’t go that extra inch to take care of their faces.

Now that you are well-versed with the Who, Why and How of using a shaving brush, you want to buy and use it.

The difference between something good and something great is the attention to detail. Pink Woolf Shaving Brushes

In a shaving brush, you need to be particular about two distinct parts of the brush: handle and the bristles.

You should want your shaving brush to look good and have a great grip with the bristles blooming!

Today, we see witness that the handles material is synthetics like nylon or plastic as they last longer. If you need something better, then go for resin, wood, alloy, marble, or tortoise shell.

Coming to the bristles part, there are two main yardsticks of the bristles –

1. Loft: This is the length of the bristles from the top of the handle to the top of the hair. The average loft size is ~ 50 (+/-5) mm.

2. Knot: How many bristles are packed into the handle and its width. The average knot size is around 20 (+/- 2) mm.

As a precaution, you should take a step back from using shaving brushes whose width of bristles at base and top are exactly the same. All good brushes will have a width at the top that is 1.5 to 2X of width at the base. A greater width will allow for more face pampering via better control.

This is it.

I hope you now know the A to Z of using a Shaving Brush.

After all, we all search for answers when in a fix, right?

Background:

Pink Woolf was started after years of using cheap and bad products that have chemical ingredients in them.  They smell good, are packaged well, BUT they are not your skin’s best friend.  My skin was constantly dry, chapped, cut skin (even while using a cartridge razor), and shaving irritation prone.  After visiting a dermatologist, I shifted to Wet Traditional Shaving Methods and my skin became & better with healthy, natural ingredients that worked on my skin.

So, when we started Pink Woolf, we consciously decided to use vegan ingredients like Aloe Vera, Olive Oil, Shea Butter, and Coconut Oil.  And combined these with other essential oils.  These oils are natural, organic, and work to make your skin a better version that ever before.  We hope you like these thought through and well researched natural & organic products.
